Public Enemy, es un grupo de rap proveniente de Nueva York, Estados Unidos, redefinieron a finales de la década de los 80 las reglas del sonido del ghetto, y con sus rimas combativas, su activismo social y una actitud revolucionaria convirtieron el hip hop en el vehículo perfecto para la autoconcienciación de la comunidad afroamericana en los USA.
Corría el año 1982 cuando Carlton Ridenhour aka Chuck D, estudiante de diseño gráfico en la universidad de Long Island, conoció a Hank Shocklee y Bill Stepheny mientras desempeñaba sus labores de DJ en la estación de radio universitaria WBAU.
El profundo interés que los tres sentían por el hip hop y la política fructificó en la grabación casera de la demo "Public Enemy nº 1", así como en la creación de un servicio móvil de DJ's y del primer club de rap de Long Island, The Entourage.
Cuando Rick Rubin, co-fundador del legendario sello Def Jam Records, oyó la cinta rápidamente le propuso a Chuck D fichar por su discográfica, y éste desarrolló para la ocasión un concepto de grupo de hip hop que iba a convulsionar los cimientos de la escena del rap norteamericano y ,porque no, del mundo hasta hoy en día. En este post compartiremos todos los discos de Public Enemy con el único fin de compartir.
